Location and History

As Marylebone estate agents, we can provide access to the best properties in the area, which is bound by Oxford Street to the south, Marylebone Road to the north, Edgware Road to the west and Great Portland Street to the east. The neighbourhood also includes Regent’s Park, so if you love green spaces, estate agents in Marylebone can find you a flat close to the park.

The desirable Lisson Grove and the original site of Marylebone Cricket Club at Dorset Square also sit in this area and Kubie Gold estate agents in Marylebone have many local prime properties on our books.

Marylebone’s name is derived from a church called St Mary's, which was built on the bank of a small stream or ‘bourne’. As the area is mostly residential, Marylebone estate agents can show you many beautiful modern and period properties in the area.

Such place names in the neighborhood as Cavendish Square and Portland Place reflect the Dukes' of Portland landholdings and Georgian-era developments there.

The Borough

The Metropolitan Borough of St Marylebone was a metropolitan borough of the County of London between 1899 and 1965 after which it was merged with the Metropolitan Borough of Paddington and the Metropolitan Borough of Westminster to form the City of Westminster.

The St Marylebone Society, the oldest amenity group in Westminster, was formed in 1948 to help save war-damaged Nash Terraces in Regent's Park. Our Favourite Shops

One of London's more discreet neighbourhoods, this district between Oxford Street and Regent's Park is where many of the capital's private health clinics, plastic surgeons and dentists are located. However, not everyone comes to Marylebone for a nip and tuck, the streets are also crammed with smart shops, European-style cafes and restaurants.

Marylebone High Street is an ideal place for a leisurely stroll, especially if you weave your way into St Christopher's Place. Away from the busy, traffic-laden streets, this paved area is a hamlet of fashion shops and trendy eateries. And, at the slightest glimpse of summer, tables and chairs spill out on to the pavements for al fresco dining.

It runs sub-parallel to Baker Street and terminates at its northern end at the junction with the Marylebone Road. Notable shops include the main branch of the bookseller Daunts Books and the Scandinavian furniture retailer Skandium, in addition to the Michelin-starred Orrery restaurant.

A list of shops can be found via London On Line.
